Welcome to the Adler Resource Guide Database! In his two-volume work titled The Great Ideas: A Syntopicon of Great Books of the Western World, Mortimer Adler lists over one hundred of what he calls “the great ideas,” or topics that have maintained universal relevance to humanity since antiquity. This database contains primary sources that engage these topics. These sources are not requirements for studying these topics but recommendations as you explore them with students, peers, or on your own.
